Bathroom Winter Warmers

If you think about it, your bathroom is the one room in your house where every member of the family, both young and not so young, can find their own space for a little while at least.

With winter approaching fast, I have put together a list of tips and advise that can help to make those moments spent in the bathroom that more comfortable.

Whirlpool/Spa/Steam Systems

An affordable item in today’s bathroom design is a whirlpool spa or steam system. More and more people are fitting these systems, creating a luxurious and healthier environment without leaving the comfort of your home.

Towel Warmers and Rails

Bathrooms of all shapes and sizes including ensuite, cloakroom or main, can usually accommodate a towel warmer. Towel warmers themselves come in various sizes, some of which can actually replace old and tied radiators that connect to your central heating system directly. Towel warmers also come as electric only or dual fuel. Whichever one suits your bathrooms heating system you can be sure that a warm, dry towel is a great feeling on a winters night.

Heated Flooring Tile System

Traditional bathroom tile flooring is often considered to be cold and not very inviting during the winter months. Heated tile systems are now affordable that provide that warm feeling when you take that first step on to the floor. If you are considering this approach, you should take professional advise at the planning stage.

Bathroom

Insulation

Bathroom windows are perfect for natural light, but they also can let the heat from your towel warmers and heated tiled floor etc. straight back out again. The best way to combat this is to fit a double glazed window. The cheapest way is to insulate the window in the form of a kit. These kits can be obtained from DIY and Home Improvement outlets.

Temperature and Safety Control

An important issue that is often overlooked in the bathroom when using the shower is the potential of high water temperatures causing injury or leading to accidents. One way to address this safety issue is to install pressure balances and thermostatically controlled valves. Without these effective controls in place, this all to common problem occurs when house hold appliances such as a washing machine or dishwasher draw in their own water supply causing a rapid decrease in pressure at your shower.
